As you can imagine, it’s more of the same … however, one of the interesting points to follow is when they discuss about how they will make sure that the banks will use the money wisely. OK, we need healthy banks that are well capitalized BUT we also need to make sure that the capital injection is not simply used to get rid of the toxic stuff but used to get the money flow going again!
Paulson goes through recent events and stresses that this is all about attracting private capital, protecting the American people, keeping the economy going and NOT a nationalization of these institutions.
Actually, we feel Paulson was pretty good in this interview and was less ‘robot-like’ than usual. Have a look for yourselves…

But nationalizing these institutions is what it is, hopefully for only a short period until the markets right themselves and investors stop the panic.
